Feminist Theory and Music Conference

University of North Carolina, Greensboro
May 27-30, 2009

At my first conference as a “composer” and performer, rather than a sociologist, my trio the Pinko Communoids was featured on the third evening concert along with Monique Buzzarte and Tomie Hahn & Melaine Klein. Monique’s set offered a moving mix of conch shell, trombone and electronics. Hahn and Klein’s performance involved sonified bike tires and harnesses. It was taut, and beautiful.

This was the Pinko’s final performance (for a while) as Kevin is headed to Korea for the year on a Korea Foundation grant. Fittingly, we performed Dusk [listen], always a good closer.

We also had a great jam session with Tomie Hanh and Zoe Sherinian at Maya Gallery!
